Rundown Tuesday November 29

I was up at 5:45am per Adi. We sat in the dark kitchen while I pumped and she ate a bowl of grapes. Usually the dark house keeps her quiet(quieter), but today she brought her phonics school bus out and while I was paralyzed(pumping), she hid under the table and sang and drove(banged) the bus over every chair and across the floor. Sorry Frank (downstairs neighbor). Morgan was up shortly after that, but Ben slept in until 7:30. Now we just need Ben to teach that to Morgan and Adi.

My breakfast was waffles, Adi's was a bowl of grapes, a bagel with cream cheese, and a waffle, plus two glasses of milk, and the twins, well we all know what they had.

After Ben and Morgan ate, I pumped again and set my sights on exercising for the first time in a long while. The last time I did anything, I was 12 weeks pregnant at zumba class. That night I realize that I couldn't keep up with all of those hot dance moves. Speaking of hot dance moves, Adeline has quite a few. :)

Today was day one of the Insanity workout program. Now that I think about it, it was around this time last year that I started Insanity, but I only made it through the first month. I did up my cardio and lose tons of inches. Plus I enjoyed it, but I was doing it with a group of teachers after school. This time I'll be alone except for the audience of twin babies and one rowdy three year old who will either participate or get in my way. Anyways, I rocked the fit test. I keep reminding myself of how I felt after the fit test last year (I was pale, sickly, clse to death, and every single one of my muscles were failing). So I feel pretty good about my numbers from today's workout. I did have some weird pain in my left 'hind quarter'. That area has been different since the c-section. It was numb for the first month afterwards, and whenever I was patted(come on I'm married its ok) on my bum, I would get a sharp pain. In fact the pain when touched still happens. I guess I don't see it as so much serious than weird, that's why I probably won't see a doctor about it.

Moving on.

Ben cried(screamed) during the entire workout, through my shower, and so on. He just wanted to be held. Golly is he a mama's boy already? After some serious cuddles, and a bottle(for both kids) they fell asleep. Yay, I get to enjoy a cup of coffee. But first, its time to pump again. Then I can drink my coffee. Unless Ben wakes up before I'm done pumping, yes, that is him screaming. And great he woke up Morgan. They must be going through a growth spurt because they are sleeping at 45 min intervals and eating every hour and a half. And that's me pushing it to get them to the hour and a half mark.

Another round of feeding. Spit up, fusses, and finally, all three children are sleeping.
That's my day, up until noon. Quiet time for mama, and a nice warm lunch.

thanksgiving

We had a great thanksgiving with some wonderful people. Its so nice to be welcomed into someone's home; Adam and Amy and their two kids. To have fellowship once again feels great. I've really missed adult time and conversation.
This is the second time we've been to their house. The first was a week or so ago. It went as well as it could until Adeline pooped her pants and didn't tell anyone until we started finding pieces of poop on the floor. This could have been dangerous since we all just ate brownies. Imagine if it had been mistaken! Thankfully they saw past that and invited us back again, this time for thanksgiving dinner.
Never underestimate the power of good company. It does so much.
We showed up around 3. Mike parked alongside a snowbank, which is impossible not to do so now, but I struggled getting myself, Adeline, and one twin out on the car. I ended up swallowing my pride and stepped into the knee deep snow.
The house smelled great, I was super excited. I didn't bring any food for a number of reasons, but we did bring drinks.
Amy's folks and Adam's folks were there. Usually I would feel uncomfortable crashing another family's thanksgiving dinner, but these people oozed welcome and comfort.
Adeline ran in circles with their children, the babies were passed around, and Amy even let me use her breast pump so we could stay a bit longer. Now that has something to be said.
Good times
Good food
Good new friends

Hoping it continues

Wordless Wednesday with Captions

So far this is the best coffee place that I've had the pleasure of drinking coffee from.

An 11am sunrise ofter the Chugach Mountains.

Adeline in a slouchy beanie. Well it's really an adult sized hat, but she insisted on wearing it.

This rubber duck was covered in vicks vaporrub because Adi said it was sick.

Good morning Morgan.

Good morning Benjamin.

picture walk nov 16 morning

When we went to the Mantanuska Glacier, we picked up a rock on our windshield. It was only a nic, but with the freezing temps, we don't want it cracking, so this morning, before the sun even came up (9am), we had someone come out to repair it. Now this morning everyone was having a rough time. Last night was particularly windy and thus loud. Adi woke up several times, scared, and Ben and Morgan are going through a growth spurt and eating around the clock. So bleary-eyed I put on my boots and coat to meet the guy outside to fix the windshield. It was -3 outside.

It's become so cold and dry outside, that the insides of our very old windows are constantly foggy. I wish I could get a clear picture of the kitchen window, that one has a thick layer of ice, yes ice, on the inside, yes I said inside of the window. There is ice inside! Now it's time for me to admit that it is outlandishly cold outside.

This is where I spend most of my time. My Breast Friend Twin Nursing Pillow, phone, remote, water, and coffee. The sad this about that wonderful cup of coffee, by the time I'm done nursing, it's cold, then I heat it up, take a few sips, and it's time to nurse again, then it gets cold again. I need to solve this problem, but how?

This is becoming an all too often sight in my kitchen sink. Adi is doing so well with potty training, but she hasn't been making it to the potty in time. Today she was half way onto the potty.

Adi threw a 41 minute (yes I timed it) tantrum today over getting dressed. I heard everything from, 'no I want to wear my jammies', 'I can't zip up my dress', 'it's inside out', 'it's backwards', 'I can't do it', 'help me', 'no I do it', and finally 'leave me alone'
After her accident, she ended up with a completely mixed matched outfit with a bathrobe.

Adi wrote out a recipe today. I guess I spend too much time looking for new meal ideas. But really, it isn't a bad thing. She wants to cook, and for the most part, I let her help me make meals and snacks.

This is what Ben and Morgan look like after excessive nursing and cuddling. It's super cute to want to cuddle, but I haven't had coffee or breakfast, and I've been up since 4:58am and they've nursed every 30 minutes since 4:58am.

Poor baby Ben, his scream is one that isn't easily ignored. This is what both Ben and Morgan look like when they're going through a growth spurt and aren't currently eating or being held.

Poor baby Ben post feeding. He just wants milk and cuddles. And I am happy to oblige

Snowy Halloween

The sky dumped around 3 inches of snow just for Halloween. I wasn't sure what the policy was for trick or treating out here. You can't really wear a normal costume and trudge through the snow. So for our first time out, we went a little ghetto, full snow suit with a tutu and fairy wings. Next year we'll find thick full body costumes.

So as it got closer to trick or treating time (5:30/6:00), we kept peaking outside to see if anyone else was out. It was like a ghost town, so I asked the twins group here in Anchorage via facebook, what time/what everyone did. The verdict - most go to church functions or other indoor Halloween activities, very few go outside and really trick or treat. And if they do go out, they drive to the neighborhoods that will reap the most sweet, chocolatey goodness. I'm not going to drive around for trick or treating. I feel like I should be able to walk down my own street, meet my neighbors, and get some candy.

So off we went, down our little street. Not many houses had porch lights on, and I began second guessing how successful we were going to be. Thankfully the few houses we did hit, were very generous with their candy. Most of them said they had no trick or treaters last year, and we were their only one this year. I guess the twins moms were right when they said if anyone goes outside, they make it worth their while and drive to the ritzy neighborhoods.
Several houses gave out full sized candy bars, and one looked panicked as she handed Adi candy that she obviously had just lying around the house.
Most houses had very large dogs that they had to awkwardly hold back with one leg as they reached out of their front door.

And three houses lingered outside and chatted with me. One just moved in, and was a nurse from the look of her outfit, a real nurse, not a costume nurse. One hinted that we should come in, and one just so happened to work for ASD in the speech department. She was my favorite person to talk to, just three houses down. She had a teenage son who had severe disabilities. He stayed in the doorway and laughed hysterically at Adeline. It was super cute.

We headed home with red cheeks and a bucket only half full of candy, but boy did we have fun. And boy did I enjoy getting out of the house. Mike, who wasn't feeling well, stayed inside with the twins. We didn't think 19 degrees and snow was the best thing right now.

I just had to share her smile. She's got the best smile ever, but when you put a camera on her, she seizes up. And look at that Halloween get-up. I'm embarrassed, but we took this first Halloween to learn the ropes, next year we'll look like real trick or treaters.
